self assesment 3rd marking period

I deserve a bad grade because I got really lazy this marking period. I had a hard time finding and sticking to project proposals. I did not produce very many peices, and the media I used lacked diversity. The first couple things I made were pretty small in size. I think I had some cool ideas, but I didn't follow through well on most of them. Since I switched from double to single period this semester, I lost time thinking about what to do, and I didn't work fast enough to make up the difference.

community connections third marking period

Erin Obrochta
Ambler Storefront

Bright colors
Textures
Simple
Still lives
Interesting cropping

Some of the things I noticed about Erin’s work was the bold color and the simplicity. She tended to focus on still lives, like fruit. I really liked her papaya paintings. Through her use of oil paint she got an amazing texture for the seeds of the papaya. I also liked how she kept it relatively simple. The color drew your attention to the object and to the background equally and kept it interesting the whole time. Overall I liked her work. I also liked her painting of a cow skull. It was plain, the skull was in the middle of the canvas. But the skull was bold and nicely textured and it was well done. I enjoyed looking at her work. After looking at many pieces, I got a little bored of their repetitive nature. They were all simple and colorful and none of them has much action in them. I liked her still lives but I wish there had been more diversity in her work.
